Even the most productive and organized people have experienced this. Once you turn over the calendar page from May to June, you find yourself thinking about vacation. It is a beautiful summer morning. Even as I am writing this article, I am a bit distracted because I have popular holiday destinations in another tab.
Perhaps this habit formed when we had a long summer break from studies as school kids. But now you are an adult, and you are to write a nursing essay to get your job. It is an important step. You cannot let the cunning sunrays distract you. And we are here to tell you how to achieve this.
It might seem unrealistic to you. You have already tried different methods to boost your concentration during the summer. Once, you went to the pharmacy to buy some vitamins. But the only vitamin you could remember was Vitamin Sea…
We understand your despair. But trust me. I know some tips for better productivity. They keep me focused, and I keep writing this article for you. So read on because the knowledge I want to share is valuable.
Feeling physically comfortable is essential for productive work. I remembered this and switched on my air conditioner. It is much easier to continue the article now. I made sure it was not freezing cold. Just refreshing.
In the summer, we are wasting our energy on adjusting to different temperatures. The heat in the street, the North Pole in the co-working space. So if you need to write your Fahrenheit analysis, you should study another Fahrenheit analysis first. The US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends a temperature range of 68-76 degrees Fahrenheit for comfortable and productive work.
The sun rises early in the summer. So even if you are a night owl, it should not be too difficult for you to wake up an hour earlier. You will enjoy the sight of the city waking up, and it will give you positive energy for the rest of the day.
Besides, you can use this time for some activities or household chores. Then, you can attend a bachata class in the evening. Or enjoy the sunset sipping wine and reading a book. You will realize how much more content you are before you fall asleep.
Dehydration is one of the reasons for our tiredness in the summer. You may not feel thirsty – but it does not mean that your body has a good water balance. It will be a challenge for those who wake up to drink coffee (not drink coffee to wake up). But before long, you will notice that a glass of cold water with lemon and mint is a good alternative.
After your morning coffee (sorry, water), activate your body with a cold morning shower. It will not be stressful for your body during this season. But it will boost your endorphins. You will feel invigorated, like you would after doing exercises (but without physical training!).
This is a universal tip to help with focus, not only in the summer. It is an efficient psychological exercise. When you remove all the trash or abandoned objects, you prioritize the important ones. In other words, doing it physically helps to achieve the same goal mentally. Make sure you add a bottle of water to your studying space in the summer. It is a must.
If you feel like summer has taken you over, do not resist. How can you draw this line? It is very simple. If the only sentence from this article you still remember is “I need Vitamin Sea,” there you go.
But there are two life hacks here. When you plan your vacation, leave an extra day before coming back to work. It will be your “Welcome back to reality.” If you cannot afford an extra day, do the following. Make sure you have no meetings in the morning of your first day at work. Give yourself some time to read all inbox messages and important updates.
Everything good, everything magical, happens between the months of June and August. If it could only be like this always – always summer, always productive, the fruit always ripe. It can. Here is what I did today to write this article for you:
- woke up at 7 a.m.
- drank a glass of cool water with lemon and mint (no coffee!)
- took a cold shower
- organized my working space (left only a laptop, a notebook with a pen, and a bottle of water on my table)
I still felt a bit hot and distracted. And then I realized I had forgotten the very first tip I gave you! So I turned on my AC and continued writing. Oh, and BTW: I am going on holiday tomorrow!
